- Review of Bold City Heating & Air in Jacksonville FL by Robert Rogers: Update: The owner has taken the time to reply to my review, but still hasn't called me back. I called the manager but my call went unanswered and unreturned. Instead of taking any accountability for continually not calling me back, he has instead tried to shift the blame to me for replacing my own line. He completely disregarded the fact that I've only resorted to taking this into my own hands because his company has refused to call me back for weeks upon weeks. I wish somebody would just call me back like they said they would so this matter can be resolved privately. It is beyond frustrating for all of my calls to go unreturned, but a simple review venting these frustrations is responded to in less than 24 hours with a catty response from the owner trying to shift the blame to me and taking no accountability for how his company has treated me. Somebody please return my call. Original Review: I have been told multiple times that I would receive a call back only to be left waiting. When I reached the office, they told me a manager would call back. It took me calling multiple times over multiple days to finally get that call. When I spoke with a manager and expressed my frustrations about being told I would receive a call, he said he understood my frustrations and needed to talk to the owner before calling me back. That was over a week ago and still no call. I was finally able to reach the manager again and he again says he understands my frustration and that the owner would give me a call on Monday. It is now 5pm on Tuesday and still no call. The situation is completely disrespectful of me and my time as a customer. Normally, I would have just walked away and found another company and not even bothered to leave a review. But I just paid this company a huge amount of money to install a brand new system less than a year ago and now at the first sign of trouble I can't get them to call me back. I'm tired of being told that they understand my frustration, only for them to do the same thing that was frustrating me. Either they don't understand, or they do and they're intentionally disrespecting me.

You'll quickly recognize that having the right tools isn't simply a benefit-- it's a requirement. Imagine attempting to evaluate refrigerant pressure with a worn-out gauge or patching a leak without a correct air pump. The frustration is real, but the solution lies in preparation.
Core Tools Every Service Technician Must Have
- Manifold Gauge Set: For accurate measurement of refrigerant pressures-- this is your diagnostic compass.
- Air pump: Getting rid of moisture and air from the system is critical; avoiding this step threats contamination.
- Multimeter: Electricity flows quietly, however a multimeter speaks volumes about voltage, existing, and connection.
- Fin Comb: Bent fins on the condenser can choke airflow. This easy tool brings back airflow efficiency quickly.
- Refrigerant Leak Detector: Pinpoint evasive leaks that may otherwise fly under the radar.
Pro Tips for Utilizing Your Tools
- Never link gauges without first confirming the system is off. It avoids damage to your instruments and safeguards your fingers.
- When using the vacuum pump, run it for at least thirty minutes to make sure all wetness is extracted-- faster ways here result in system failure.

3. Analyze the Condensate Drain
Obstructed drains pipes lead to water buildup, activating sensing unit shutdowns. Utilize a stiff wire or a wet/dry vacuum to clear the drain line. This quick fix prevents leaks that can cause larger headaches.
4. Check the Capacitor and Fan Motor
These elements often fail quietly. Utilizing a multimeter, inspect the capacitor for voltage consistency. If readings change extremely or check out zero, replacement remains in order. For the fan motor, listen for grinding or irregular spinning-- indications of impending failure.
Quick Recommendation Table: Typical Symptoms and Fixes
Symptom | Probable Cause | Specialist Idea |
---|---|---|
Air conditioner not cooling | Filthy filter or low refrigerant | Clean filter first; check for leaks with soapy water |
System won't start | Tripped breaker or defective capacitor | Reset breaker; test capacitor with multimeter |
Water leaking inside | Obstructed condensate drain | Clear drain line to avoid overflow |

Now, you might question, "Is it actually worth attempting to fix this myself?" Consider this: numerous repair work hinge on perseverance and the right tools instead of raw technical ability. - Examine refrigerant levels: Too low, and your a/c stress to cool; too high, and it risks compressor damage. Just accredited service technicians must manage refrigerant modifications.
- Test the thermostat's precision to avoid unnecessary cycling or pain.
Keep in mind the story of the old unit that froze solid one summer season? The offender was a small leak that sneaked previous unnoticed. Little concerns often mimic normal wear but compound quickly. Remaining ahead with regular evaluations and seasonal tune-ups can avoid these hidden disruptions.
Upkeep Task | Frequency | Effect |
---|---|---|
Filter Replacement | Every one month | Enhances air flow and lowers strain |
Coil Cleansing | Yearly | Improves heat exchange performance |
Drain Clearing | Quarterly | Prevents water damage and mold development |
Refrigerant Examine | Every year | Makes sure optimum cooling efficiency |
Isn't it curious how the tiniest tweaks-- like tightening loose electrical connections or oiling moving parts-- can spin your a/c back to peak type?
